This summer we would like to have as many people as possible participate in summer workouts. Open court workouts will typically be Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from noon until 2 pm. Please check the calendar for changes or updates. Saturday workouts will continue as well. Remember that champions are made in the off season! Anyone wishing to work at our elementary camp can also earn service hours for next year first quarter, please let Coach Schrader know if you would like to work by the end of June. Here are a few guidelines for working out over the summer . . .
1.) If you want a collegiate jump shot, you need to make 500 baskets every day. If you want a pro jump shot - 1000!
2.) The fastest way to make improvements to your game is through your handles. If you cannot handle the ball and commit turnovers as a result you will be a liability.
3.) Attend a camp - experience competition and instruction from other institutions and coaches. Challenge yourself against competetion that is better than you!
4.) Work on strength training and cardiovascular conditioning!
5.) Even though the season may seem a long way off, it will be here before you know it. The work you do now will be reflected in how well you do when the season starts. Stay focused! Stay committed through the long haul!
6.) If you are unsure of what to do, click here for some drills, tips, or suggestions!
The LHS Lynx have been blessed this year to have five great seniors who will all be missed greatly! They are:
Spencer Walker
Ben Robinson
Colton Bradley
Evan Taft
Moses Manning
Please come and cheer on these young men as they play their last home game as an LHS Lynx (2/27) Friday night at 7 pm vs. ICS
The Lynx basketball team clinched the top seed in region 17 by beating St. Joseph's in Ogden last Friday night 67 - 49. Moses Manning led the Lynx with 27 points, but was helped out by a solid team effort on the defensive end.
Five Lynx were selected by the region coaches to be on the all region team. They are:
Moses Manning - Sr.
Spencer Walker - Sr.
Zac Khokhar - Jr.
Brian Peters - Jr.
Brandon Schrank - Jr.
Congratulations to all these young men for all their hard work!
The Lynx will close out the region schedule with games on Tuesday, February 24 vs. Mt. Vernon at Christ Lutheran School in Murray (5:30 / 7 pm) and at home vs ICS on Friday, February 27 (5:30 / 7 pm) Please come and support the Lynx as they try to finish undefeated in region 17!
The Lynx are almost half way through the region schedule and still have not had a loss. It hasn't always been easy, both Christian Heritage and St. Joe's put up a good fight, and now we will have to go up there and play them at home. Please help support the team by trying to make it to a game, we want to invite everyone to come and be a part of this exciting season!
Also, special thanks to Sue Walker for helping organize our elementary schools night February 6 vs. Mt. Vernon! It was great to see so many kids packing the gym that night. Thanks to everyone who helped out and attended!
Lil' Lynx is getting ready to start this Saturday, February 14 from 10 am - noon. For more information please go to LBC information page. To register click on the forms page and find the Lil' Lynx registration page.
Thanks again to all the wonderful parents and fans who support our program, but an especially big thanks to these young men who have worked so hard and improved in so many ways to make this such an exciting season! I can't wait to see what the second half of region has in store!
